Job responsibilities include:

This position will arrange for the purchase of assigned commodities and services. Work will include reviewing requests, talking to suppliers and company engineers, examining price, suitability, and availability of items or services, comparing specifications, and reviewing alternatives to requests to fulfill the objectives of the purchasing department. Position will perform independently under the general supervision of the Manager of Purchasing or Sr. Procurement Specialist.

Requirements:

* High School diploma or equivalent is required
* Minimum 2 years of experience as a buyer involving the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, and services.
* Knowledge of assigned commodities and services including sources of supply, commodity markets, price trends, grades and qualities.
* Knowledge of common business practices relating to the purchase, pricing, terms, shipment, taxes and payment for commodities and services.
* Knowledge of Uniform Commercial Code
* Knowledge of principles and practices of large scale centralized purchasing

Preferred:

* BS degree preferred
* Experience with fabrication practices, materials, welding, shipping and erection
* Experience with electrical and mechanical equipment manufacture or procurement
* Experience with procurement practices in an engineering and construction environment with multiple jobsites
* Experience with codes – AISC, AWS, SSPC, ASTM, ASME, NEMA, NEC, JIC, ANSI
