In our small department, we often share or trade duties, so youwill be expected to learn at least a little bit of everything that we do.We do our own clerical tasks, but having such a small department affords ussome flexibility in assigning functions, so if you shine in a particulararea, you’ll likely be given responsibility in it.Background, experience, and attributes: While you won’t have any directreports, the ideal candidate is a mid-level manager with a broad backgroundin HR. Experience in administering benefits and compensation plans isessential. You’re adept at online recruiting, and don’t mind pitching inwith new hire orientation, or whatever else needs to be done. You must haveat least assisted with (if not had responsibility for) 401(k) planadministration, including calculation of employer matching andinterpretation of plan rules. Organizational skills, attention to detail,and the ability to multitask are important. We will count on you to do alot of tracking and calculating with spreadsheets, such as departmentalsalary budgets and metrics, so solid math skills and proficiency in Excelor Lotus 1-2-3 are a must. A thoughtful, respectful communication style --such that all levels of staff are comfortable talking with you -- iscrucial. In other words, you must be approachable, responsive, andtrustworthy. Your judgment must be exceptional, and maintaining strictconfidentiality is second nature.Requirements: A BA degree in business, HR, or related field, or theequivalent in experience. At least 4 years of progressively responsible HRexperience is also required. Must be well-versed in federal and stateemployment laws, possess strong problem-solving skills, and have HRISexperience. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word required; Power Point,Access, and report writing software such as Crystal Reports are preferred.Excellent oral and written communication skills are a given, as we employmany writers and editors.
