BUYER, HARDGOODS

Position is located at our Grand Rapids, MI Headquarters.

Candidates outside the Grand Rapids area, will be required to relocate.

The individual selected for this position will be responsible for the Hardgoods area.

Responsibilities include:

* Vendors negotiations

* Builds vendor relationships/Joint Business Plan

* Assists in developing store specific plans at the category level

* Supervision, training and development of Merchandise Associates

* Sales and margin financial performance for multiple categories

* Selects and analyzes ad items and events

* Utilizes market trend analysis to determine assortment

Ideal candidate must possess the following:

* Bachelor's degree or commensurate retail experience

* Previous buying, inventory, or analysis experience

* Superior negotiation and planning skills

* Sense of project trends

* Knowledge of business drivers (pricing, promotion, assortment)

* Domestic and overseas travel required

* Knowledge of the market, retail business and customers

* Microsoft Office experience with the ability to learn Meijer applications

* Enthusiasm, initiative, and passion for retail
