Physics (PHYS-1-0-09) American University in Cairo Founded in 1919, AUC's campus has moved recently to a new, state-of-the-art campus in New Cairo beginning Fall Semester, 2008. The normal teaching load is three courses per semester and English is the language of instruction. For expatriates, benefits include housing, annual round-trip air travel for appointee and qualifying dependents, plus schooling for the equivalent of up to two children at Cairo American College. The successful applicant will teach a variety of undergraduate physics courses, in addition to teaching and mentoring graduate students in the department's Master's program. Currently, faculty members of the Physics Department at AUC have multimillion-dollar research grants and it is expected that the applicants should be capable of conducting research and of attracting extramural funding. Requirements: It is preferable that applicants have a strong Experimental Physics expertise especially in the subfield of Alternative Energy. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Physics or related field. The applicants should be actively engaged in research. Strong potential for outstanding teaching is necessary. Accordingly, the successful applicant must demonstrate high potential for a strong record in research and excellent student evaluation in teaching.
