I am offering an exciting & immediate Full-time, direct employee, Director of Procurement & Support Logistics with a growing and stable New Jersey based innovator in the development, manufacturing and marketing of biologic, biomaterial and device systems for musculoskeletal/Orthopedic surgery.

I. POSITION SUMMARY:
Candidate will provide leadership and direction for the materials management functions related to procurement, receiving and warehousing and local support logistics to meet company objectives and customer requirements. Responsible for the management and oversight of all purchasing and related contracting activities within the Company. This position works with
corporate, senior operational and center-level personnel to ensure the procurement arrangements, contracts and logistics meet the needs of the Organization. Assist, direct and evaluate staff in the issuance, administration, and completion of purchase orders and the management of medical raw material warehouses in accordance with corporate and departmental policies and procedures.
II. MAJOR JOB DUTIES:
* Direct the procurement of all outside services to meet Company operating needs and inventory/cash flow objectives.
* Develop and monitor processes and procedures for purchasing activities throughout the organization. Establish policies to assure honest, fair and ethical relationships with vendors.
* Review and approve daily flow of purchase orders.
* Analyze current and potential suppliers. Develop and administer strategies to achieve performance objectives relating to quality, cost, and delivery. Develop, implement, and maintain reporting systems and metrics that support the procurement function. Maintain quality of supplies, services and equipment by defining quality standards, discussing defective or unacceptable goods, services or equipment with users, vendors and others, determining source of trouble, resolving disputes.
* Develop sources for the procurement of supplies, services and equipment by attending demonstrations, contacting vendors, attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies and evaluating competitive bids and proposals.
* Prepare requests, RFP's and analyze RFP responses to obtain efficient pricing, service, distribution and payment terms from existing and potential alternative vendors.
* Negotiate contract terms and participate, with the support of internal legal counsel, in the documentation of purchasing and supply agreements. Execute, implement and administer contracts.
* Track and report savings achieved from completed sourcing initiatives.
* Establish and maintain a close working relationship with R&D, Sales/Marketing, Quality Assurance, and Operations to assure internal customer needs are met and company objectives are supported. Work with cross-functional teams to understand company-wide needs and evaluate suppliers.
* Coordinate with other departments to monitor vendor invoices and utilization data to ensure compliance with pricing terms, rebates, and other contractual provisions of supply agreements.
* Assist in the resolution of supply problems and supervise the follow-up and expediting of supplier deliveries.
* Establish and maintain department budget. Manage activity to ensure positive performance against budget objectives.
* Participate in hiring, training, and evaluation of department staff. Organize workloads of assigned staff, delegate
responsibilities, and supervise day-to-day operations.
* Work with the company's IT Department to explore, develop and implement potential business-to-business applications to facilitate efficient purchasing, delivery and payment of goods and services.
* Assume ownership and responsibility for the management, control, reporting and accuracy of inventory records.
* Provide leadership and guidance in the use, implementation and refinements of the company's MRP/ERP systems as
related to functional responsibilities.
* Develop, implement, and maintain reporting systems and metrics that support the materials functions.
* Direct the receiving and warehousing functions in support of company's objectives.
III. JOB REQUIREMENTS
* 5+ years experience in Purchasing with a minimum of 2 years experience as a Purchasing Manager or Director.
* Minimum of 2+ years of experience in the Biologic, Biotechnology, Medical Device or Pharmaceutical Industry.
* In-depth knowledge of contract law and contract management.
* Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
* Must react with a strong sense of urgency.
* Capability to influence and persuade internal and external customers through sound logic and articulate arguments
to meet objectives. Demonstrated strong negotiation skills.
* Good oral, written, analytical, organizational and negotiating skills. Strong understanding of scientific terminology
with the ability to effectively communicate with R&D scientists and engineers.
* Computer skills including MS Word and Excel. Strong background in software systems required inclusive of electronic
bidding and procurement. Prior experience in implementation of MRP/ERP systems preferred.
IV. EDUCATION
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Logistics Management or related field.
* MBA Preferred.
* Professional Certification from APICS (such as CPIM or CFPIM) preferred.
