TRAINING MANAGER
BASED IN GUTIANSHAN NATIONAL NATURE RESERVE, ZHEJIANG, CHINA
Earthwatch Institute is an international environmental organization that engages people worldwide in scientific field research and education to promote the understanding and action necessary for a sustainable environment. Our research program focuses on Climate Change; the sustainable management of resources; oceans; and communities in order to better understand critical environmental issues and inform and influence local agendas.
We are embarking on an exciting new program with HSBC Bank and several international NGO partners, furthering our strong experience of corporate and NGO partnerships. This global, 5 year program aims to reduce the impacts of Climate Change on people and their livelihoods, by promoting action in some of the world’s major cities, river basins and ecosystems. Earthwatch’s research focus within this partnership will be to investigate climate change impacts on forest ecosystems, including the link to anthropogenic disturbance. This research will be located at the Regional Climate Center in Gutianshan National Nature Reserve, KaiHua, Zhejiang Province, China. Through the partnership, Earthwatch is also working with HSBC to help their employees learn more about climate change, what it means to HSBC and what they can do to combat it. Groups of employees from across HSBC’s Asia Pacific region will be selected to spend two weeks at the Regional Climate Center, working with scientists and taking part in facilitated discussion and action planning sessions. Upon their return to work, they will carry out projects that further HSBC’s commitment to sustainability.
The Training Manager will deliver a consistent, high quality learning experience to Field Programme participants (Climate Champions and Stakeholder groups) at the China Regional Climate Center in Gutianshan National Nature Reserve, inspiring participants to engage with Climate Change and Sustainability issues as relevant to leading to sustained behavior change. This learning experience will include a mix of presentations, interactive exercises, facilitated discussions and action planning. You will support both the group and individual participants to understand their own learning and leave the Field Program feeling empowered and motivated to take action to combat climate change. You will also support the promotion of the programme internally within HSBC by proving case studies, stories and anecdotes from the Regional Climate Center. In addition to the learning program to corporate employees, you will have enthusiasm for local community engagement, and will work with the Corporate Learning Manager and the Field Director to develop learning programmes for diverse local stakeholders. You will be working closely with the Corporate Learning Manager on monitoring and evaluation of the programme, and to build Earthwatch’s learning capabilities more broadly.
