LifeSource is Chicagoland's Blood Center - a non-profit organization and the primary resource for blood collection and transfusion medicine services in the greater Chicagoland area. It is LifeSource’s mission to provide a safe and adequate supply of blood and blood products for the entire community.
Responsible for purchases and/or procuring supplies, equipment, or services for LifeSource. Maintains standing orders on standard products or services to insure ongoing operations. Researches, evaluates, negotiates, selects, and purchases stock supplies and services. Selects, purchases and/or procures non stock supplies as required by using departments. Provide support to ongoing operations of Materials Management department. Provides quality customer service to external and internal customers as identified by the following activities.
(a) Works with internal customers to define products, services, and specifications.
(b) Works with department director and/or manager to identify specific products requirements.
(c) Must be able to build strong relationships with internal customers and vendors.
(d) Works with vendor to negotiate delivery, price, product, training, and installation, if necessary.
(e) Works with internal customers to provide timely delivery of supplies and services by processing all orders within ten business days of receipt.
(f) Works with departments and/or vendors to identify needs and address ways to reduce costs and expedite delivery time.
(g) Anticipates organizational needs or crisis situations and orders supplies accordingly.
Qualifications:
Five years of purchasing or materials management required. Purchasing experience working in a healthcare setting a plus.
Education/Training:
Four year Bachelor degree required.
Advanced degree a plus.
CPM is a plus.
Proficiency in Word and Excel required.
Knowledge of Oracle System a plus.
