Colloid/Surface Scientist
Job Title: Colloid/Surface Scientist
Job Description:
Liquidia Technologies Inc. is an innovative nanotechnology company, based in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, that designs, develops, and manufactures precisely engineered particles and films for use in a wide variety of life science and materials science applications. Liquidia’s proprietary PRINT™ platform is unique in its ability to replicate and produce nanoscale features with absolute control over particle size, particle shape, and particle composition. Founded in 2004 on the discoveries of Professor Joseph DeSimone at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Liquidia is comprised of a distinguished and growing team of scientists, academic researchers, and business leaders.
Liquidia is seeking a Colloid Scientist to:
Develop technology to prevent agglomeration of nanoparticles, where said nanoparticles are initially isolated from one another
Generate methods to de-aggregate polymer particles in a powder, and particle agglomerates in a solution
Modify and develop long-term, stable solid-liquid dispersions to improve drug delivery and applications in materials science
Apply theoretical considerations, classical methods, and novel dispersion techniques for improving solid-liquid dispersed systems
Expand and develop core capabilities and processes for the characterization and measurement of particle and agglomerate size as a powder and as a suspension. Develop processes for isolation, purification, chemical stabilization, and processing of unique micro- and nano-scale particles.
Modify the surface of components, or the chemical and physical nature of the interface between components, to influence the stability of colloidal systems
Work with some particles and systems that fall under GMP, a regulated FDA environment
Requirements:
Required:
Applicants must have a minimum of Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or scientific field, and 5+ years industry experience in colloid, formulation and interfacial chemistry. The successful applicant will have a demonstrated, diversified, track record of multiple commercial successes in applying colloid science. Experience in design, scale-up, and optimization of colloid manufacturing processes of discrete particles in an industrial environment is also required.
Highly preferred:
Experience in applying statistics to experimental work
Experience in GMP environment
Experience in fine particle technology, materials science, polymer chemistry and/or organic chemistry
Liquidia offers attractive packages including competitive compensation, benefits, stock options, and a potential relocation package. Visit our website at www.liquidia.com. If you meet the qualifications and are looking for an outstanding career opportunity, please email your resume to careers@liquidia.com. M/F/D/V/EEO.
