R&D Polymer Coating Process EngineerJob Code: 2007-01-HRMJ*Fluidigm Corporation*, an innovator in the microfluidic market, is dedicated to delivering the promise of microfluidics through the commercialization of complete and enabling microfluidic systems that impact mission critical objectives within life science research. Fluidigm uses a proprietary process known as Multi-Layer Soft Lithography to fabricate Integrated Fluidic Circuits.* *Position Summary: Implement and characterize new processes and equipment for fabrication of current and future generations of Fluidigm’s elastomeric microfluidic chips.Essential Duties include: * Implementation of new processes/equipment in R&D fab o To achieve goals such as reduction in fabrication cost, increased throughput, reduction of feature sizes, incorporation of new sensing and actuation functionality, and use of new materials for improved chemical and solvent resistance * Characterization of processes for capability, stability, and yield. * Work with R&D to guide choice of new processes/equipment * Work with Manufacturing to effectively transfer these new processes to production Qualifications: (experience, skills, education etc.)Essential: * Demonstrated capability to quickly reduce ideas to practice in the lab * 3+ years experience in elastomer device fabrication, coating, or the printing industry * Desire and adaptability to master new technology * MS in Chemistry or Materials ScienceDesired: * Hands on experience with precision roller coating, printing or other planar coating deposition methods * Broad experience in polymer coating deposition, spanning multiple techniques and equipment types * Semiconductor, display, biomedical, or MEMS device fabrication experience * Experience with transfer of processes from laboratory to full-scale production * Knowledge of polymer chemistry, particularly of elastomers * Microfluidics experienceWork for one of Red Herring's Top 100 Private Companies!
