Dade Behring has an immediate needs for Commodity Managers at our Newark Facility: The Commodity Manager will develop and drive global commodity strategy as it relates to supplier identification, selection and consolidation. The Commodity Manager,
Independently plans, executes, and functionally directs multiple significant projects or combination of a number of smaller projects with complex technical features comprising the technical foundation to our Core Competencies, new/revised product commercialization’s, or commercial product technical support;
Develops technical solutions of significant complexity as required to support project activities;
Applies advanced specialized technical knowledge to a broad range of problems;
Leads technical activity in area of specialty, and provides global support and consultation in specialty area;
Responsible for procurement of parts, assemblies, modules, qualification of molds, tooling, and supplier processes for procurement of raw, semi-finished, and OEM products, troubleshoots supplier processes and internal/customer complaints, and directs all aspects of project work to ensure completion within expected parameters and time frame;
Leads co-engineering and co-development activities with suppliers to meet quality, cost and supply requirements for commercial or new product introductions;
Contributes to achievement of global material cost reduction goals by implementing programs with suppliers to improve processes and alternate processes or source materials for use in our products;
Communicates results to management via written reports and oral presentations, and documents qualifications and validations to meet quality system standards;
Manages key raw material and OEM supplier contacts, relationships, and supply agreements;
Directs global sourcing and supply chain programs.
The qualified Commodity Manager will have:
Advanced technical degree in an engineering discipline specific to the commodity with thorough technical knowledge, and proven leadership ability;
BS, MS or equivalent with 10+ years of related work experience and proven record of accomplishment;
Technical degree and MBA with 7+ years related experience;
Individual is recognized internally as a technical expert within the area of technical specialty and/or product development accomplishments;
Business / sourcing background with a balance of strong technical background and significant Manufacturing and Supplier Operations experience involving program leadership;
Must have working knowledge of FDA Device regulations relative to diagnostic product development and manufacture;
Must have broad knowledge of purchasing operations including contracting, supplier quality management, supply risk management, supply chain management, cost analysis, etc; also ability to work with multifunctional and multi-site global teams as a leader, facilitator or member;
Strong communication, negotiation, analytical, planning and execution skills are required.
