Position Summary:
This position exists to ensure that the Materials Department provides sound management of raw materials, WIP and finished goods inventory and thorough optimization of materials flow through the manufacturing process. In addition, this position assures the key operating and customer service performance objectives are achieved or exceeded. Will also manage the Materials, Production Scheduling and Inventory/Order Management aspects of the operation’s implementation of world-class methodologies.
Accountabilities:
•Identify and implement improvements in all materials flow processes through the application of world-class operations management methods and measurements.
•Working with suppliers and internal and external customers, identify and implement improvements in materials flow processes through the application of world-class supplier partnering and customer service methods and measurements.
•A strong knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of traditional MRP II/EDI materials/order management systems, and of how to transition from such systems to "pull"-based, "systemless", flow manufacturing.
•Provide leadership and direction to a staff of 5-8 employees.
•Work closely with Plant Manager to achieve customer service and productivity objectives.
•Leads the Materials Planning, Scheduling and Warehousing processes.
•Continue developing a highly effective materials organization, capable of improving customer service, while facilitating inventory turns improvements.
•In coordination with the corporate materials department, standardize material planning, scheduling and inventory management throughout the facility to improve customer service and reduce lead-time.
•Improve material flow and management within the manufacturing facility. Develop a streamlined logistics process to minimize cost and optimize resource utilization.
•Develop and implement a professional development program for materials personnel. Promote APICS certification within the facility. Conduct appropriate workshops on topics to enhance overall materials expertise at the facility.
•Responsible for inventory record accuracy, cycle counts and scrap accuracy transactions.
•Lead and manage annual inventory process, as well as auditing plant scrap and transactions.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
•4 year degree required
•A minimum of 4-5 years progressive experience in the integrated functions of materials management in a high volume multi-step manufacturing environment that has embraced MRP manufacturing practices and progressive supplier relationships.
•A minimum of 3 years in managerial experience focusing on standardizing planning & execution, reducing sourcing complexity, and talent development.
•In depth knowledge of computerized integrated information systems (manufacturing, materials management, production planning, procurement and distribution).
•Detail oriented

•Proven leadership skills complimented by exceptional communication skills.
•A familiarity with MRP and state of the art business strategies preferred.
•A working knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement processes.

•Well-developed interpersonal skills to establish and maintain high levels of credibility within the supply base.
•A balanced approach towards analyzing existing systems and the ability to focus simultaneously on short term results and long term strategies.
•The ability to provide vision, direction and focus to the changing role of the plant materials function.
•Demonstrated ability to implement cost-saving measures through supplier negotiation
