Businee Segment Leader

Vale Inco is one of the world's premier mining and metals companies and one of the leading producers of nickel. We employ over 12,000 people at our worldwide mining operations, production facilities, technology centre and through our extensive marketing and sales network.We are looking for a Business Segment Leader to work in our Vale Inco Special Products department in our Mississauga office, which is part of our Marketing group. Vale Inco Special Products (Vale ISP) has a strategy of achieving aggressive revenue growth and profitability targets. This requires that Vale ISP pursue new value added products to leverage into new markets.The role of the Business Segment Leader is to develop new applications and new businesses based on various existing and to-be-developed technology platforms within Vale Inco. With guidance from the Director and the Vale ISP Business Management Team, and within the Vale ISP STAR process (Product Development Stage Gate process), this role will manage a portfolio of applications, determining how and when to pursue each opportunity. This role will manage each application and project with internal partners. There is a critical emphasis on working with external partners.
Some of the key responsibilities will include leading projects (plan and execute many projects in parallel, work with internal and external partners); building market knowledge in numerous industries and applications (determine when and what knowledge is required, how to quickly obtain data from numerous types of sources, determine implications); setting up and managing joint development agreements to achieve plan goals (manage multiple relationships concurrently without conflicts) as well as building and managing external relationships, alliances and partnerships (proactively finding potential partners in multiple industries, multiple types of partners).

Minimum of a Bachelor of Science or Engineering and Masters of Business
Able to make timely and sound business decisions
Proactive and well-organized
Excellent interpersonal and communication skill
Must Have Skills:
Minimum of 5 years of marketing knowledge and skills in all areas of marketing including market research; market analysis and market plans
Technical expertise in a very broad range of technical areas required to make decisions and manage projects
Ability to determine the business and market implications of new technologies and technical developments as well as planning development projects
Marketing skills in research, analysis and planning
