The County of Volusia is currently seeking a Purchasing Director. Located in DeLand Florida, this position is responsible for directing the County's centralized purchasing activity for the purchase and disposal of all of the commodities (approximately $170 million annually); acquisition of professional, consultant, and contractual services; directing the County's automated Extended Purchasing System (EPS); and the purchase and sale of real estate. This position also supervises a staff of fourteen (14), With a population of 509,341, the County is bordered by the St. Johns River on the west (with excellent boating and fishing opportunities) and beautiful Atlantic beaches on the east and it is easily accessible to the Daytona Beach and Orlando metropolitan areas. Volusia County has a number of public and private colleges and universities (including Stetson, Embry Riddle, Daytona Beach College and Bethune Cookman), an excellent public school system and outstanding state and local parks. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or related field, and five (5) years of responsible experience in purchasing with at least three (3) at a supervisory or managerial level. Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) or Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO) certification required. A comparable amount of experience may be substituted for the minimum qualification.
