Department of Main Roads is investing $16.2 billion over the next five years on road and transport infrastructure that will connect our future, while simultaneously managing the State’s largest asset – some 35,500 km of road network valued at over $37 billion.
As a result of this massive investment in infrastructure we are seeking to appoint an Engineering Geologist to be based at our office in Herston, Brisbane.
As the Engineering Geologist you will be responsible for:
- Providing specialist engineering geological services and technical advice to facilitate the design, construction and maintenance of transport infrastructure
- Providing engineering geological advice and technical consultancy to internal and external stakeholders
- Preparing project briefs for consultants and review and oversee the technical content and work output of multi-disciplinary teams (including consultants and contractors) engaged in programs and investigations
- Providing project management of geotechnical assessments and investigations including the preparation of multi-disciplined reports on bridges.
- Preparation and delivery of technical papers to committees, conferences or training functions.
This position will be both office and site based (approx 50/50 split) and will require some travel within South East Queensland.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a degree from a recognised tertiary institution In Science or Applied Science majoring in Geology, Geological Engineering or an acceptable equivalent is mandatory. Post graduate qualifications in engineering geology, geotechnical engineering or a related discipline are highly desirable.
It is mandatory that you have a minimum 5 years post-grad experience.
The remuneration package for this role ranges from $70,500 – $75,900 plus a 2 year loading of between $17,600 – $18,900 which is reviewable at the end of the period. Main Roads also provides excellent benefits including flexible work hours and salary packaging options.
