Will: Be a member of the Analytical Chemistry and Materials Development Group. Will exercise independent judgment when interfacing with customers and performing chemical analysis and material characterization in support of flight project and flight instruments. Will develop and propose solutions to complex technical problems brought to employee by customers. Will participate and play a key role on work teams, i.e., tiger teams, and will provide guidance in the area of chemistry to the team. Will be a mentor to technicians. Will be responsible for maintenance and safe operation of the assigned analytical chemistry equipment and laboratory area.
Required Skills: BA/BS Degree in Polymer Chemistry, Material Science, or Organic Chemistry with 5-10 years experience; or MA/MS with 3-8 years experience; or PhD with 1-6 years experience. Direct experience in analytical chemistry related to materials characterization and testing. Demonstrated fundamental knowledge of material testing and characterization and some mechanical skill. Direct experience working with thermal characterization equipment such as TGA, DTA, DSC and TMA; working knowledge of GC, GC/MS, ICP and general analytical chemistry laboratory techniques as applied to aerospace industry. Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as proven working knowledge on how to work in a multidisciplinary team environment. Prior experience in working with customers.
Desired Skills: Proven ability to write proposals and market capabilities internally and externally. Demonstrated ability to write analytical chemistry reports/memos.
