Metallurgy Department Manager/Failure Analyst
IMR Metallurgical Services in Louisville, KY has an immediate opening for an experienced Metallurgy Department Manager/Failure Analyst. This position will report to the Site Laboratory Director.
The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include:
Managing multiple investigations;
Directing and performing materials testing;
Creating accurate and professional technical reports for clients.
This critical position interfaces with clients and provides consultation on a wide variety of materials and processing topics including failure modes, alloy selection, heat treatment, mechanical testing, welding, corrosion, and nonmetallic engineering materials.
The successful candidate will:
Demonstrate confidence and proficiency in conducting complex investigations;
Possess 5-7 years of commercial or industrial lab experience;
Hold a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science. An advanced degree is preferred; a P.E. license is highly desirable.
Demonstrate expert technical knowledge and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrate the ability and motivation to develop leadership skills for this fast paced, technical environment.
