We are currently seeking leading materials researchers to join our world class Materials Engineering facility based in Southern Sydney, Australia.

Nuclear Structural Integrity Modelling Specialist
Salary Package to $160k
Primarily responsible for providing expert knowledge in the application of simulation techniques to the study of structural materials and the provision of scientific leadership to the Structural Integrity Modelling Group. The successful candidate will develop, lead and manage multiple research programs of an international standard on the application of computer modelling to nuclear materials engineering, and publish the findings in high quality refereed journals.
As the ideal candidate you will possess a PhD in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or similar relevant discipline and have world leading knowledge, leadership and research experience in Solid Mechanics and Materials Modelling using Finite Element Analysis. Your strong communication, conflict resolution and negotiation skills will complement your demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams of engineers, and scientists.

Advanced Nuclear Structural Materials Specialist
Salary Package to $160k
Responsible for providing specialist expertise and scientific leadership, guidance and mentoring to the Advanced Nuclear Structural Materials Group. The successful candidate will develop, lead and manage multiple research programs of an international standard on the properties of materials and the development of design methodologies for advanced nuclear power generation systems including the use of advanced structural materials for use in high stress, high temperature and high radiation environments, and publish the findings in high quality refereed journals.
As the ideal candidate you will possess a PhD in Materials Science, Engineering, Physics or similar relevant discipline and have world leading knowledge, leadership and research experience in structure/property relationships in advanced structural materials for use in extreme environments. Applications from candidates with experience of advanced nuclear structural materials for use in high stress, high temperature and high radiation environments are particularly welcomed. Your strong communication, conflict resolution and negotiation skills will complement your demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams of scientists and technicians.

Nuclear Materials Modelling Specialist
Salary Package to $160k
Responsible for leading and undertaking research within the Nuclear Materials, Modelling and Characterisation group including the provision of guidance, mentoring and coaching to members of the research team. The successful candidate will develop, lead and manage multiple research programs both internally and externally to ANSTO of an international standard on the application and development of computer simulation techniques to predict structural and dynamic properties of nuclear materials and publish the findings in high quality refereed journals.
As the ideal candidate you will possess a PhD in Physics or inorganic/physical chemistry or other relevant discipline and have world leading knowledge, leadership and research experience in the field of atomistic modelling of materials and will possess experience with computer programming and modelling techniques and methods. Your strong communication skills will assist with the development and maintenance of national and international research networks.

Nuclear Wasteforms Chemist/ Materials Scientist
Salary Package to $160k
Responsible for providing scientific leadership and contributing to the strategic planning of research into nuclear materials for advanced nuclear systems. The successful candidate will perform world class research in the chemistry/materials science of glass, glass-ceramics and ceramic materials to contribute to ANSTO’s efforts in relation to commercializing wasteform technology.
As the ideal candidate you will possess a PhD in Solid State Science, Materials Science, Ceramics or similar relevant discipline. You will have world leading experience and knowledge in materials science relating to ceramics and/or glass and have skills and expertise with materials characterisation and analysis. Your strong focus on teamwork will complement your demonstrated ability to plan and carry out research work.
