We are looking for a Materials Technologist-Supplier Development to be part of this exciting start-up project. Position Description ·Support and advise suppliers during the manufacture of Alstom products regarding applied manufacturing processes. ·Access the technical capabilities and competencies of newly identified suppliers in support of the sourcing-led supplier qualification. ·Provide detailed technical advice to product owners during the qualification of the manufacture of products by suppliers. ·Lead the review of material specifications relevant to the US and Mexico. ·Identify and evaluate opportunities to use substitute materials and modify the existing specification to encompass locally available materials. ·Support the North American region, Mexico, and the US. ·Become familiar with other Alstom products and components and expand the role worldwide in the longer term (> 18 months), supporting an existing Materials Engineer who provides a similar service globally.] ·Act as the single point of contact for Mexico and US on all matters relating to metallurgical support in the engineering, sourcing, and manufacturing areas. ·Seek advice from the R&D community, ensuring that issues are captured and shared. ·Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements ·Bachelor degree in metallurgy or materials engineer, Masters level desirable ·Significant experience in the manufacturing industry and in building customer relationships. ·Notable application experience of sound metallurgical principles, particularly in the field of ferrous materials. ·Good team player ·Ability to influence others ·Ability to anticipate, recognize and handle conflict situations ·Confident, innovative and independent worker ·Enthusiastic and highly flexible ·Ability to cope with multiple simultaneous tasks, often under pressure ·Sound metallurgical knowledge and knowledge of NAFTA materials standards · Practical experience of NDT and qualification in auditing to recognized international quality standards are desirable ·Ability to adopt and live up to the company’s Core Values of Trust, Team, and Action ·Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including but not limited to: frequent sitting, standing, and walking; frequent computer use; frequent telephone use; some lifting or moving up to 25 lbs.; ability to travel as needed (less than 10% travel) · Ability to read, understand, and clearly speak the English language At Alstom, we are shaping the future and it’s all about people.
